A Backroad Quarter Pipe Session in Costa Rica

So the day began as any other day of riding, with my buddy showing up, the packing up the car, the packing of the bowl, putting on my ripped up jeans, a quick polishing of my lucky nipple ring,  a couple of mountainboards, and a bunch of saftey crap and a shovel being thrown into the car.
So once Marco arrived and we finished loaded up on redbulls and leather gloves, we headed out to  Piedras Negras, Ciudad Colon for a little Mountainboarding action, Costa Rica style.  We had prepared some jumps and stuff over the last few weeks and hadnt gotten a chance to ride them yet and today seemed like a great day to git ‘er done.
Marco is a cool kid, I’ve known him since he was 15, the kid shreds hard.  Here is a look at his board:

…it’s an oldschool Mongoose “Varmint” with MBS trucks from the old green comp16 trucks. Despite the fact that it’s heavy as hell he still manages to shred hard and make mountainboarding look easy so if anyone wants to sponsor him let me know.

The first run down was pretty sweet, I hit it alone so Marco could see what we had built. We hit it again together and then decided to session the new quarterpipe at the bottom for a bit. Little did we know that the car had died about the same time we parked it.

After a bit of sessioning we decided to head back up to the top and hit the other ramps, but unfortunately the car wasnt having any of that and refused to start, so we decided we would go ahead and session the quarter for a bit longer….especially seeing as how it was there and we didnt have any other options.

Fortunately about the time the solid sheet of water that they call rain here started to roll in the car had a change of heart and decided to get us out of there. It was a bummer we didnt get to session the upper portion more and get some pics of the other two ramps, but it was great tp session the quarter with my good buddy Marco and the timing of it all couldnt have been better.

Apparently this is how they do hand-plants in Costa Rica:

And this is how Americans re-define Style:
