Wow! Aluminum or ChroMo? It looks to me like the the center wheel provides braking and a "pivot point" for turning. Once you lean into turn, the front and rear wheels behave much like a channel truck, except they have suspension. I also would like to see it in action! nice work on the fabrication!!

Thanks for posting a pic BDirthead. So they are disc brakes! I have considered making a disc brake setup. One of the problems I anticipated was damaging/bending a disc on a rock. Even using a small 140 mm disc doesn't seem to leave a lot of clearance. Probably worth the potential problems as I'm sur...

It works. The bolts bend a bit after awhile, but they are cheap. The lock nuts don't have a great contact patch with the truck base plate, but who cares. Get out there and ride it!

You can put skate style trucks on a deck with tip angles designed for channel trucks. Just get some angled riser pads and mount them so they flatten out the tip angle a bit.

I'll ride with you! I live in San Diego's east county (Ramona) and occasionally make it out to Imperial Valley on work related stuff. Do you have any kiting stuff or interest in that kind of riding? There should be alot of kiting areas around you.

Congrats Bryce AND wifey. Dude, next time you're in San Diego we need to try the riverboarding thing at the bridge at Torrey Pines State Beach when the tide is going out. We can tie on to one of the bridge supports.

I got one (20'), it is cool, but to get any speed you need 2 pullers and a rider. I going to rig up a quick release to the handle and pull it back using a small electric winch mounted on my jeep. It will be slow pulling and spooling it back out will be slow but it will work. Just gotta get the time...

BG-I used 5 layers of 1/8", has rocker but not much concave. Jimmy-The first run went way better than I had hoped! Rolled straight and low speed stability is much better, did lose some clearance, though. This deck is so flexi it soaks up all the bumps, rides like a Cadillac! Now I'll be making some ...

Dirtsurfer Mods

I finally finished the mods to my Dirtsurfer GP 16. I didn't like the low speed instability and the lack of flex. I didn't want to shell out the money for a FS 16 (and that wouldn't help with lowering the center of gravity). So whack, hack, and carbon fiber!

Here are two of my molds. Wedge inserts can be added to create a concave deck. I've only used them a couple of times. I've hand laid fiberglass (no vacuum) but wasn't happy with the weight or stiffness of the board. I've also used them as a form and attempted to press maple sheets using a clamping s...
