I think Dave Stiefvater has done something like that to a couple of his boards (grind rails on the bottom), From what I can tell it hasn't weakened his decks at all.

That's correct Heather. It's about 4 years old or so, but the deck should still be good, and as long as the board was decently maintained by the previous owner, there should be no real issues.

Sometimes the ladders to come a bit too tall. I had that issue on a new set of ladder straps, fixed itself after a couple rides. Or you may have pushed the ratchet down too far and jammed it. That can be a complete pain in the ass to undo. Had a couple kids do that to a Comp 95 up at a demo, took me...

Usually if I'm hiking with my board, I either attach a rope leash to the front and pull it behind me, or I use a snowboard strap that wraps the board onto my back, but I do see your point on the backpacking. You've already got the weight and cumbersomeness (< that even a word?) of the pack and every...

It could be that the teeth on the ladder are just a bit too tall. You could try sanding down the top of them just slightly. Had to do that when I was using snowboard ratchets on F3 bindings.

Where in Arizona are you located? I'm heading out with some of the guys I ride with for a longboard slide session in the Mesa area. Could always bring along my Blade and go do a downhill session

I don't think I'd want to ride one of those... Same reason I don't ride freaking scooters/dirt scooters. 4 wheels or nothing.
If they made it a rip-stick type deal, it might be a cool idea for flat trails, but still hard to see getting into it.

Nice. I've been collecting for a while, mostly have common boards (A couple blades, a razor, Comp 26 stuff like that), the picked up a Frame board from late 90's ( MBS Spinal tap) for about 60 bucks and picked up a 1 of a kind Grasshopper a while back as well. Still trying to find a good deal on a V...
