The brake hubs are defiantly a much heavier grade metal than the anodised ones. Might be worth attempting to contact manhick. Think bailing billy was there distributer.

Manhicks don't get hot in the same way that the discs do.

I like the idea of being able to couple them with a plastic hub.

Those manhicks in the link are the anodised type. They can't be braked onto as not strong enough. I think the ones used for brakes are cast?

No they have a different hole pattern. I guess you might be able to redrill if you are good at that sort of thing.
