Alpine 5 passes challenge

Post by Brennig » Thu Dec 01, 2011 2:48 pm

One day, mountain boarders will take on the Alps like they did the Lake District. I'm going to start this discussion with one suggestion. The Grossglockner High Alpine road. Over 1000 m descent, almost 15 km long, of nice smooth Austrian road. And yes those are bus stops!

This is the Stelvio Pass, some of you might have seen it on Top Gear, the best road in the world. 1200 m difference, 14 km long and an average gradient of 10%. I'm guessing that's two passes sorted. Now for another 3.

For me when riding in the Alps the tarmac is good for connecting trails, other than that rekon I would want to be off road. Those roads do look lush though.

I hate you, Brennig. Now I'm going to have to organise a roadtrip to the Alps next year. Haven't I got enough to do?!?

I'd be up for an Alpine trip - so long as I have finally gotten round to buying a NoSno...

I'm sorry Ian - what was that you said? "Your board is dangerous and you should immediately look into getting a NoSno"???

Well...if you insist....
