This place was once a coal mine. Luckily for me Margaret Thatcher closed it down, sacked all the miners and turned it into a country park, she was even good enough to build a bike park and some excellent free ride terrain. It can get busy in the main park area at the weekends because there's loads of other stuff like windsurfing, sailing, fishing, horse riding etc in the park as well but the bike park and free ride areas are away from the main part of the park so they are pretty quiet. Head for the "Equestrian Centre", the bike park is about 500m from the entry to the park along the road to the equestrian centre and Harran Hill is accessed from the other side of the park just outside Kelty.
