belac, as mentioned, you have the trucks inverted. Rotate each truck in place, 180 degrees. Should turn fine. Flip those trucks and give us a ride report. Been thinking about putting a set on a longboard for my son to cruise on with his bad ankles.

@ Kiwy -- trucks are not bent. They were only used 4-wheels-down on grassy hills for a few months and then street riding only for another 6-7 months. What you are seeing is distortions in the picture from the camera lens. BTW those are MBS All Terrain skate trucks, 15.75-inch (40-cm) axles.

yep trucks not bent, just photograph angle.
and i've always run my longboard trucks backwards for more stability, has never affected turn responce. reassoned it would work the same here, bringing wheelbase closer to my feet and give me a flat grind area so i don't mash the kingpins.
i'll have a go at flipping them round, but don't think that will change the problem. think it's more how the varibles of wheel size, truck width and board height all mish mash together.
have also thought about moving the trucks back to the regular skate position to free up the tail and nose for tricks, but i'm already thinking there'd be bugger all turning.
another frankenidea is to snap up one of the $10 snowboards (end of our seasson) and chuck the trucks on that. i was going to do it with freeboard alpa trucks a few years ago but never got round to it. think it could be fun.

You might be confused between flipped hangers and flipped trucks. Because RKP (ordinary longboard) trucks have a straight pivot you can flip the hanger and if that hanger has an offset you can adjust the wheelbase and ride height. The trucks you are using, are TKP and they have a bent pivot which means they cannot be flipped, so you flipped the whole thing round thinking it did the same thing. Turn them 90 degrees and your problem is solved and forget it ever happened.
With the snowboard, it's probably too flexy. One easy fix is to add a stringer, you could sand down the bottom sheet, attach some nice plywood (probably 1/4") the fiberglass or carbon over the whole thing. There's plenty of posts on Silverfish so just do a quick search on there.

i'm looking thru this thred to try and find the measurement for t nuts mario suggested i use for spring conversion. but thought whilst i had it open i'd add a picture i took whist gutting an old deck the other day. to my knowledge theres no pictures of the inerds of a deck on this site so thought someone might be interested.
so the top layer on the right is some sort of p-tex plastic layer, (only way i've found to get it off is heat gun and scraper), then theres a transferd graffic sheet on the left, then the fiberglass in the bottom middle, and finally the wood core which has been grinded down to at mid top. i've got to get it all down to the bare wood to stick a few carbon layers back on it and reanimate it back to life in a spooky lightning storm.

Hi people. On topic of frankenboard building, what would be a cheapest option? Would double kick skateboard deck with mtb trucks survive?
If all else fails, i could just buy a thick OSB board lol, cut it to shape, slap some trucks and go enjoy a suicide ride

Skate decks may have too much flex if they don't have enough wood layers (at least 8) and/or concave. Greater the distance between axles, the flexier it gets.
Tip angle is critical depending on the trucks you choose. Look at belacs skate hybrid back a few posts.
@ belac, have you had a chance to see what the AT skate truck rig can really do under fire?

Can i bore you all with a couple of questions more?
Trucks like these look easily DIYable, how well they turn and will they last for some freeride?

On a note of cheap board construction, short snowboard with something on bottom side for added strenght?

Like the man said: skate decks are to flexi as is., but with abit of franken modding you can beef them up abit.
Bg: the ride is smooth but at that wide they just dont turn. I wasthinking of a full foot binding like a streetboads to give more leverage but havent had the time lately.
The other idea is to carbon the top of an old snowboard and bung the trucks on there instead but leaving room fo tail and nose. We start a new carbon job in a couple of weeks so ill postsome shots when its done.

I'm short on pictures but nevermind. So my actual board is a frankenboard in all inch.
deck; PMS alloy/glass medium stiffnes
wheels; simply Rockstars Pro with Gi tires, nothing special
trucks; scrub-MBS matrix pro with "springlesss with spring" adjustament (one adjustament bolt is bigger due to MBS thread faliure)
bindings; worn out and modified F4 with snowboard heelstraps. There would be blue trampa camlock's when they arrive to my house

(about 4 days...)

once I had Akande X-ray deck.... broken, than repaired, then broken so badly in the same places that it hangs on the wall

Personally I think that every company makes one thing's awesome, and second ones crappy. But that imagination and personalization gives a soul to our bords. Am I right?

Landyachtz R5? Only the rear truck is mounted backwards, and only if it's a 35 degree truck (I believe.) The rear wedge on a backwards truck brings the total angle to 0 making the rear truck have only lean (no turn) for stability purposes, ie: to fight speed wobbles cause by hunting oscillation! (And it makes all the turning come from the front of the board while the rear just follow, sort of like with a car.)
Anyway, I should post up the pics of the frankenboard job my friend and I did to his old GI board. Took out the front spring and put in some cheap springs from home depot that provided almost no resistance, BUT kept the trucks from flopping side to side.

yes, the R5,
rear truck is 40deg,
combine with kick, 0 deg,
when you step on the board, rear will probably be 1 or 2 deg.
i remember seeing a pic of an old mtboard with reverse 0 deg trucks (bushings) mounted on the kicks.
with low angle trucks, (2nd pic shows a 0deg truck made by Veloz)
you can have "mtboard style" longboards.
btw, i had a longboard setup with seismic front using cheap soft spring from Ace, standard truck rear.
very easy to pump at low speed.

for bg: those trucks are currently mounted on the carbon skate deck. if you had small feet i guess it would be all right, but the moment you get any turn on your feet hit the wheels. so scraping that project. decks off to be a pool board and trucks are destined for the bottom of a snowboard once i've reinforced it. in short, trying to use a short deck for a mountainboard does not a nifty jib board make. maybe the only way to do it would be reinforce a comp 90 and widen the stance, but probley only get wheel bite again if your man sized.
