What McC said, nylon is softer than the truck metal. And IMO nylon washers allow the trucks to move more freely than metal washers (kinda like slipperier) -- without lubrication.

BTW I'm still using the same set of nylon washers on a set of old-style MBS channel trucks that I put in over 5 years ago

nice, where is that? looks a bit like the track people where riding in the DH comp...only very wet.

went our for a short ride today (mainly concentrating on track building as long as its wet!) and yeah it seems fine! much stiffer than it was though, i had only just changed my eggs to trampa reds so with them in it was just too stiff so ive swapped back for the MBS yellow eggs. might slap the brake on it and take it through a few hairpin tracks i know.

i also made a vid of how to do the conversion but i want to ride it a while and feel im happy with it before i post it. i wouldnt feel right about taking the credit for it though, whats your actual name? or should i just credit the work to 'Kryten'?

regardless its a great simple convertion thats saves 121 quid!

conclusion, FIRIKING AWESOME!

In what way are the trucks better than the standard Matrix? Have you ridden the "hybrids" vs the Matrix Pros?

what do you mean by hybrid?

i think they are a bit lighter, much tougher, easier to install, look better...think thats it.

By Hybrid, I ment the regular Matrix bottom with the Matrix Pro top... I was curious on the difference in performance of the standard Matrix vs. the "hybrid" vs. the stock Matrix Pro.

i dont think ive ever ridden pros.
as for performance....not sure thats the right word really. the standard pros can be looser to turn and the pros and the hybrid are tighter (springs are more compressed cause of the top metal hanger). as i say i dont think performance is the right word cause it just has to take the abuse, turn, squise, push back....

The plastic hanger tends to wear round the bearing in started to notice play in mine wile I was in my garage having a smoke wile stood on my board closer inspection found when I was leaning side to side the cup that held the bearing was oveling I didn't like the look of this so that's why I decided to make the conversion this solved so much stuff my board now feels so sweet its a noticeable difference and I now have so much more confidence in the board

I got it put together and took it out for a test on my street. This set up is much stiffer but I think I may try to get used to it instead of switching out my green dampas for orange or yellow eggs. I did have a few issues but managed to get it worked out. I went to a couple of hardware stores and could not find any metric drill bits so I used a 3/8" drill bit I had at home. 3/8" is 9.5mm so it took a few times running the bit through to get it to work. I was using a hand drill and had the bushes pushed into top truck as I drilled them. This proved to be a huge pain and I'm sure there is a better way, I just don't know what it is. Look better, they're lighter, hopefully tougher, definitly not easier (for me) to install. :)

The actual king pin size is maybe 10.3mm this is why I used a 10mm drill its so much easier if can imagine it being a real pig with the size you used anywho looks like a really good job all the same. Is that a little poo on ya tyre? Lol

i have worn out my 2nd set of the plastic bussing in the new matrix trucks. i think something similar to a hard skateboard bussing would be better.

Not poo, the streets around my house are lined with these trees that drop thousands of tiny apples. They are everywhere. They are almost impossible to get scrub off vehicles. In the spring the trees have white flowers and smell like fish.
