Thoughts, ideas on board building

This year has written "new board" all over it. I'm tired of riding wood. I want to crash into mud and rain without the fear of soaking up layers.

Since I am prepared to shell out 3 months of work on it, maybe I can do something special. A while ago I drew a board to visualize my thoughts. It looked great but was critically flawed and really expensive to make.

A friend of mine asked me what did I do with those ideas. Well, nothing. But now I'm looking over to see if there's something salvageable.

Basically what I want is a drop through mountainboard without the nose and tail. Here's a deck shape example.(

Its main use should be for riding streets, parks and ramps.

I'm thinking of getting nosno trucks and building a pair of hangers in the shape of an isosceles triangle to get the angle for turning. They should let the bushings pass through all the way through the board.

The first problem I see is wheel bite. I'm assuming the deck gets easier to spin and probably a bit stiffer but there may not be enough distance between your toes and the actual wheel. Maybe I can get a few more millimeters if I buy a trampa 35 long blank and chop it up. I could drill the binding holes a bit closer together but that would cut from my control and stability.

The alternative is some light modding. I could put some new life in my matrix trucks by replacing the plastic hangers with the matrix lites or one from trampa. Maybe I'll add some white dampas. If i go with the trampa alternative I can buy a holy pro instead of a blank to be shaped.

The quickest and cheapest (and probably most efficient) alternative though, is to buy a new deck, slap what I already have on it and call it a day.

I have a couple of months to think about it. Right now I don't know if I should risk a project.

Sounds like a Nompa.. a great inexpensive project. Lots of previous posts on making them.

Yes I believe Nompas are really cool. I read all could find about them.
As long as I can find everything I need I'll attempt my own build.

I am currently working on joshpit2003's full suspension board. What I am doing is called the foam to aluminium. You can find it on grant Thompson king of random channel. Basically you use foam and sand to make your part. What I am doing is layering them to get max strength and act as stretch skin. Hope this helps, Joe.
