Compatible Parts for upgrading?

Post by McCarver » Thu Nov 12, 2009 6:13 pm

Anyone have a list of what board parts are compatible with what boards/decks? The Upgrade my board thread has me thinking that there is plenty of upgrades out there but they differ from board to board.
It almost leaves room for a series of post about "How to upgrade my _________" threads. (specific board model)

For example.

My current board is a comp16

But I have since upgraded to a Leon Robbins deck and Rockstar pros. I have recently swapped out the Rockstars/T3s for the Vegas/Mak combo. All which are upgrades from the standard rockstars that came on it.

Other upgrades would be Matrix Lites, F4 or Talon Bindings, and twi-stars if I really wanted to cut weight.

How about a GoogleDocs Spreadsheet for Compatibility? If we all work on it and add all of the components on both X and Y axis, we'll be able to put a tick in the corresponding box to indicate that those components are compatible.

Just make sure you get the right brackets for the talon bindings as I am Riding with one screw in each plate for the time being...Have to say though those Talon bindings feel great much better than my f4's....

So the box that lines up with 'MBS Leon Deck' and 'GI Talon Binding' would have a tick but also a note that details the bolts required.

(Just noticed that this is my 151st post and I'm user 151. A strange coincidence or something more mysterious...?)

The brackets that came with them line up so close its aggravating as hell. Just settled for one bolt and tightened the hell out of it...They aren't going anywhere...

I like where you are going with this. Nice start. Should we start listing the possible components in this thread?

Or maybe Decks going down and compatible parts running from left to right.

Can do, or put them straight into the spreadsheet, or both. Anyone who clicks on the link above should be able to edit the spreadsheet.

If it is set up this way even if you were just starting with a set of trucks and wanted to build up you could start by finding all the decks compatible with your trucks and then see what you can add from there. But then again the tires would be matched against trucks not decks so there lies the first glitch.

Yeah, it needs all components or both axis, but thats easy enough, its just writing it once and then copy and paste. Then heel straps can match up with bindings, and tyres can match up with wheels, etc. etc.

Key:
Is compatible = /
Is not compatible = X
Not sure/untested = ?
Not possible = (blank) i.e. Deck and Hubs.

I guess if it was done with decks grouped together, then trucks, then tires, bindings.

all the end MBS decks can be seperated by Comp/Pro/and Core right?

This is bothersome. We need more technical info posted and standardization by manufacturers (deck/truck widths, weights, mounting patterns, standardized mounting holes, etc).

Anybody noticed that, with the exception of Trampa, the major suppliers are a little light on component specifications data, especially weights, for their decks (also trucks and tires/tubes, bindings). GI does give data for one deck (Conflict) at their website.

For those of us who like to mix and match, weight data is very important.

Seems riders are getting more technical than suppliers now.

Yeah most of the sites provide little more than glittering generalities in regard to their products. Looks like we are just going to have to buy one of each and weigh em ourselves.

Problem is, who wants to disassemble a rig they have put together one part at a time already to weigh each component individually? Besides, as soon as a new product comes out, is the old data accurate anymore?
