dirt scooters

Post by belac » Wed Sep 05, 2012 3:31 am

yay or nay?

notice theres lots of different off road 'mountain scooters' coming out at the mo, is this the begining of the end or where mountain boarding should look for inovation?

when i was a kid scoot-x (pnumatic wheeled kids bmx'y scooters)were fasionable for about a year and i wanted one badly, but then forgot about them and went back to skating. think it might have been one of the influences to get me into mountainboards tho.

i've seen a few different ones, but dirt scoots seem to be all over facebook. i just looked at their page and they have a guy riding them at bugs boarding so i spose there allready familiar to a few riders. all power to them tho, i like any fringe sport that has a go. but i think alot of skateparks have become clutered by scooter kids snaking lines, i wander if this is the future for mountainboard parks?

I had tight parents too. Take the brakes off and I'd be willing to give one a go now.

Okay, nay. Even imagining riding one is painful. Because I imagine a sketchy way to ride that's less energy efficient and more dangerous than mountainboarding or biking.

When I first started making the inline boards, my kids wanted me to put handle bars on them to scooterize them, but I didn't think that was as cool as just a board and besides I didn't want anybody to be impaled by the bars.

When I was a young boy a kid fell off his scooter at the local skatepark, the handle bar went straight through his arm, it twas horrible.

If they pay the entry fee like everyone else, then this is probably a good thing.

The only reason I don't like scooters is the looks of people riding them.
Super short handlebars, no room for your feet, knees stuck together, yuck!

That last video isn't so bad though.

Riding a scooter is more dangerous than trying to ride the main jump line at Bugs, in the dark, riding a hotwheels board, switch ,while under the influence of any mind bending substance of your choice.

FACT.
I can do a wheelie on a uni-cycle...

if theres a few who bump the money intake of a centre then great, if it gets too many and parks start designing for them and such then definatley nay.

Overall I think they look about as dumb as normal scooters but, normal scooters annoy me so much because they snake at parks. If you get snaked on a hill, u give them 5 seconds then follow, not such a big deal...still looks dumb.
