I haven't been able to get out riding for the last few weeks as it's already dark by the time I'm free from my chores, this is no fun at all.
What type of lamp should I be looking for, a long throw or flood type lamp?
What model do you use?

Certainly Dealextreem though there seem to be quite a few UK sellers selling Cree type torches on ebay for around £15-20 with battery and charger thrown in.

Unfortunately not, I've got commitments both tomorrow and Sunday. I did get a couple of hours riding tonight though, so I've not gone without. Have a good session yourselves!

Try a site called LumenJunkies. I have a pair of 300lumen babies that worked fine last night!

Velcro, you can get it in strips about 50mm wide with super strong adhesive on. Slap a big bit of the hook stuff on either side of your helmet, and either wrap the loop stuff round the torches or fashion a flat pad which is tie-wrapped to the torch. This allows for positioning of the torches, and I've never lost one in over 2 years of weekly nite riding.
