not only is it the same....but its also the same as the MBS ratchet....of which i have a spare! :D

so trampa and mbs ladders and ratchet are identical. worth remembering!

springs seem to go on the trampa ratchets, dosnt affect performance though, except it makes them a bit rattley and sometimes a bit harder to undo i think.

yeah, it still functions. just flops open(like in top pic)...more so on heel straps im sure. one of my mbs ratchets broke a couple of years back (admittedly when i foolishly jumped on it) so i got a replacement set and the spare one fits :D, so chuffed. such a hassle ordering things when your not in the UK...takes ages + postage cost + added tax.

what a bitch! well if that is the case then i will need another ratchet after all....reckon im better off just buying more MBS ratchets?

on a side note - mbs ratchets have always been the worst for loosening up for me, followed by trampa which are generally ok. but the nosno ones seem to be perfect. that being said ive only been riding my nosno for a few months now.

replacing trampa ratchet with Burton

Post by Ben » Thu Nov 29, 2012 6:34 am

got a hold of two Burton (Cartle) ratchets. but as other people have mention...they dont fit because of the hook on the bottom which helps hold the ratchet to the binding.

basically the hook is a few mm to far forward. some people redrilled the hole i think but for me this wasnt an option as the screw wouldnt be able to fit under the loosening arm.
i noticed that it would be possible to cut one of the 'grill' arms and fold it (160 degrees ish) so it would fit into the pre-existing hole in the binding. idealy i would have done that with a Dremel===>

but i dont have one yet so i just used bodged it with a metal hole saw/drill. didnt exactly come out perfect but it works great and you dont see the bottom anyway obviously.

side note: for posterity sake SOME Burton, all trampa, all nosno and all mbs ratchets and ladders are the same and are interchangeable.
Reason i say some for Burton is cause they have toe ratchets and ladders and upper ratchets and ladders. difference is that the toe ones are narrower and there for will NOT fit MBS, trampa or nosno ladders.

On the ankle bindings I just remade the slot that the thingy goes into. Basically hammered a knife into it, it looks like you didn't have enough room on the heel straps to do that.

This seems to happen to all of my ratchets except Trampa (yet!) I've gone through a fair few pairs of GI's a couple MBS and a load of random assorted snowboard ones I nicked from Ieuan. I guess that's from riding at a sandstone centre!
