ATBA 2013 Calendar

Post by ade_mcc » Tue Feb 19, 2013 4:01 pm

From ATBA-UK

With the sad news of Haredown closing we’ve made some changes to the schedule of competitions for the UK Series 2013.

Round 1 - 6th April – Downhill – Hampshire.
Round 2 - 18th & 19th May – Boarderx & Freestyle – Hales Superbole, Cheshire.
Round 3 - 15th & 16th June - Downhill – South Oxfordshire.
Round 4 - 13th & 14th July – Boarderx & Freestyle – Ironsides, Herefordshire.
Round 5 - 3rd August – Downhill – Scotland.
Round 6 - 17th & 18th August – Boarderx & Freestyle – Bugs Boarding, Gloucestershire.
Round 7 - 7th September – Downhill – Llangollen, Wales.

We all wish everyone at Haredown all the best.

Interesting selection, obviously no Haredown, no Dave and no Lakes, but some intriguing alternatives - I've got my eye on 2, 3, 5 and 7.

So, who's thinking of attending what?

More info hopefully to come here.

I want to try to get to the DHs and at least one BX...which still hasn't happened.

Anyone know whereabouts in Hampshire for the first one?

Anyone know what sort of tracks the downhill rounds are? I'm really paranoid about using my Alpine MBS Brake on tight runs >_<

Do you mean ABS (ALpine Brake System - the hydrolic one) or the MBS V5 brake (cable brake pads)?

ABS is fine for the DH tracks and with some fine tuning people have been using the MBS brake successfully.

None of the tracks are all that tight or technical. You'll be fine.

I'd love to attend one, might try and make the Scotland one as it's the only one I can easily get to.

Haredown has closed down hears a quote from there Facebook page

The Holt family are very sad to announce that after thirteen years Haredown will not be opening it’s doors in 2013. Unfortunately the poor weather and double dip recession lead to a worse than expected performance in 2012.The decision has not been an easy one, but the family*farm business cannot support a failing enterprise. We have worked hard to try and mitigate the impact of an appalling economic climate, but at the end of the day we feel we have done all we can and are left with no other option.*Haredown has brought a lot of joy and laughter to thousands of people over the last thirteen years, we would like to thank each and every one of you who have been a part of this amazing adventure, whether as a customer, parent or member of staff. We know the memories created at Haredown will live on forever.

That sucks, but unfortunately that's the way most mountainboarding endeavours seem to go after some time. I never got to go there, sadly, but I wish them the best.

Was the first DH comp always on the 6th April? For some reason, I had it as 13th April and already booked that long weekend off.
