They look big. Large tongue in the shoes are not comfortable for bindings

My F4's are giving me some pain on the top of my foot, they seem to be gigging in. I just thought that these would offer some padding

in shoes with large tongue I can't fix my foot in bindings. but if you use hell straps it will be ok
also with shoes like that if you do not tighten the laces enough, the foot can take off a shoe when you ride.

So I prefer high skate shoes. they give extra protection to the ankle (although I use 661 Ankle race brace pro).

I suppose you are using the white ones. It's normal, the internal structure is more rigid than the blacks and causes you pain and bruises at first. Had the same problem. In my case, it was a matter of enduring the pain and build up a callus. I use normal skate shoes (Vans) but I suppose if you use boots or high skate shoes there'll not be the aforementioned issue. Cheers.

If I understood well, you have one of each on the same board? could result from the position of your foot on the black one, maybe making you exert more pressure into the binding.
At least for me, when I used the black ones on the comp 95 they felt a lot more forgiving and less rigid than the white ones from the TK2. Moreover, I noticed that the padding of the blacks started to wear pretty fast. After a few months those from the whites are still intact. That's why I think the white F4s seem to me built to a better standard, i.e. to sustain more abuse and thus tougher. That's my personal experience with both models.
