i dont listen to music, i feel i need all my senses sharp and ready to avoid danger, specifically riding downhill. but i would like to if i felt it was safe...which 99% of the time i dont lol
I strive to ride as much as a go on http://www.surfingdirt.com/forum

I listen to music 9 times out of 10 - I find it's the easiest way to get hyped or relax and I had a bad experience with Steve Birkbeck commentating once and I landed upside-down cause I was laughing haha so it also blocks everyone else out while you are riding.
On top of that, I guess it helps me to not think about what I'm doing so much which helps me ride better (because I'm busy singing along).

Agree with this 100%, I'm amazed at the number of snowboarders who ride with headphones with hundreds of people on the same mountain. Seems risky to me regardless of boardtype, especially given that ride in traffic alot.
