Hello, I am new to this forum and mountainboards as well. I just bought my first board two days ago and have not had a good chance to ride it. I took the binding off of it to get use to the way it turns and flexxes. Is this a good idea or not? I will be using the board mostly for street to ride with my son and hitting the local dirt roads in the very near future. I will be surfing the site and look forward to maybe meeting some of you guys in the future. Living in Socal....

Welcome stranger. Put those bindings back on! Sorry haven't got time to say more... A board without bindings is like arriva without delays (joke for UK only, I cannot be held responsible for any non-UK residence not understanding the joke. If you would like to know more about British humor do not hesitate to contact myself or anyother resident for that matter, good bye.)

Hey Ceej welcome :)

i agree with Brenning, your idea is right in principle but you will get a better idea of how the board feels, turn and flexes with you feet firmly in the bindings simply because thats where they are going to be! not to mention the way you will be able to 'tick tack' around by hoping up and turning with you front and back, with out bindings this is impossible and especially if you like riding a very rigid steering board you will need that skill.

so where are you from and what board did you get? pictures are always welcome too :)

Southern California -

But yes get those bindings back on. You might feel a bit trapped to your board at first, but you will soon get used to it. Its actually safer to ride with bindings.

OK, I will put them back on. I bought a used Earthboard off of Craigslist. I did not want to spend alot of money at first. It is an older board with non spring trucks on it. I need to do some looking around on truck set up and tire pressures.

The bindings are the bar type and I would like to replace them with a strap type with a heal strap as well. Where would I find such a binding?

Road the board for the first time in the dirt on some roads near the house and I have to say I had a blast. The board was turning great and I was pretty impressed by how smooth it road. I think I need to tighten up the trucks a little bit, I got some speed wobble when I hit 12 MPH. LOL
