first board ideas
Moderator: BgSurfer
I'm now thinking about buying a new Pro 100 instead, built to Tom Kirkman's specifications. The price is £550 so a bit of an increase there, but I do have the money to cover it so if you guys think it might be a good board for me then I'll get it. I mean I'll probably get it anyway, but you know, advice and stuff...xD
Only just realised now that the reason no one had replied was because your replies were on the next page...feel a bit stupid now for not realising to change the page. And okay the Mikael, I really would like to get the TK board, I mean it looks awesome and it's the top end of Mountainboarding which is where I like to start.

either boards will suit you great, the pro 100s are pretty solid so even a second hand one will tend to be in good nick and its a good site to buy second hand gear off.
equally a nice new pro 100 is a lovely thing to have, and everyone likes getting new gear, but it is £300 more. at the end of the day, if you have the cash to splash, then go new, if not, buy 2nd hand

No...and honestly I don't intend to get any, I mean I am a relatively safe person, don't land badly from things...like trampolining, so I'm not going to. I'll go without and if I hurt myself then you guys can all say: "I told you so." Hopefully that won't happen though.
I have £600, the problem is persuading my mother to let me buy it...xD A daunting task I know.

more fool you on the pad front mate! even if you do play it relatively safe, like i do, chucking a lid and some pads on gives me so much more confidence and makes it 100 times more fun.
Also some mountain boarding centers wont let you on the hill without the gear, i know Ride the hill near me dosent.

no center will let you ride without a lid at the very least.
weather u tend to fall well or badly, its still a good idea to stick a lid on.
I rarely hit my head skateboarding, but on a mountain board its all to easy to fall, keep your head up and still slide your head in to a rock or tree.
plus if you catch your toe edge, its pretty easy to fall on your knees and there is no escaping smashed knees.

Well then, these are the things keeping me from falling over badly. I don't intend to go to Ride The Hill for a while at least, and when I do I'll probably rent some pads. I honestly enjoy things less when I have to wear protective gear. For example, when I went trampolining I taught myself almost everything with no mats or anything, I taught myself to double somersault (Back and front) without even a rig. The edge of danger is fun, I just know that I can't mess up without hurting myself badly, so that stops me a lot of the time from landing badly when I do things like that and long/skateboarding.
Thanks for your concern guys xD The second-hand board should be arriving just after 3:00pm today, I can't wait!

Oh trust me, I do not intend to play it safe in the slightest, maybe for the first couple of runs, but after that I intend to try out some hard tricks and see how they turn out xD That's how I do things.

Just make sure this doesnt turn Ito the classic case of, kid buys the best board, rides it three times, breaks his leg, never rides again, board lives in solitude in the shed.
The thought of a TK Pro acting as a web collector keeps me up at night.

I'm 16 Ben. Brennig, I try pretty hard to avoid being classic, I like being different...I know this isn't really what you meant, but I do intend to ride it quite often. Though I'm just starting Sixth Form, so that will come first if I want some good grades. But yeah I will try not to hurt myself or never ride it.

By the way, I actually have the board now, I decided to buy the second-hand Leon Robbins one. I'm pretty happy with it too, it came to me pretty muddied up today at about 3:00pm so I spent about an hour hosing the tyres down and scrubbing the deck a bit, it looks much nicer now. I'm definitely happy with my choice.
