Buying advice needed

Post by Defra » Fri Mar 15, 2013 2:52 pm

Hello guys,

as i've got some money now i'm really thinking about buying a mountainboard since i miss snowboarding and i dont have a sport for the summer. I've checked some MBS atom 90 and Kheo Kicker...the thing is i'm 6 foot high and weigh about 186lbs. would any of those 2 boards fit me ?

Thanks for the advice!:)

No. those boards are for kids. Where do you live? How much money do you wanna spend? If you buy used, you can get a good board for about the same price as an atom 90.

Check Craigslist. If you go MBS your going to want to do either a 95 length or a 100 length board. Atom/Colt 95X is a decent trail board. Comes with a brake pre-installed. Your not going to get insane on the board, but it'll break the ice and get you started.

Yeah that would be a good starter board. Will hold your weight easily and is going to be a good length for you.

dont buy the atom, its litterally for kids half ur height and weight, (no offence :p )

boards that would/could suit you.

mbs comp 95, pro 100, pro 95, pro 16, comp 16, pro 12.

Trampa long, 13-16 ply.

Check ebay or your countries equivalent. Any more questions, come back or link any boards u find on ebay or whatever and we'll give u an oppinion.

The atom 80 is the kids board. I weigh 185 and I started on an atom 95

So if adults were to ride them they might split the atoms, and then we'll be in a world of trouble.

Maybe not :p but it would be a shame if someone was put off the sport because they bought an atom, it broke first sesh and never rode again.

In my opinion, the Atom/Colt 95 shouldn't even be made. If you're big enough for a 95 cm deck you really should have components that will support your weight on small jumps and hold up to the terrain you will most likely want to ride. Unfortunately, I would guess that the atom 95 is one of there biggest sellers. My 3 year old son has an atom 80 and its fine for him. Its a toy, similar in quality to a skateboard you would find at Walmart or Toys r us.
