Getting started...need some help

Post by KmBn » Mon Jul 14, 2014 2:01 pm

Im new to all of this. I heard about boarding and wanted to give it a try. I was wondering what everyone recommended for the best boards to use for different tasks like kiting, cruising, wind boarding etc. Also, if anyone has some advice on some DOs and DONTs, that would be helpful as well!! Thanks

when I asked about dirt windsurfing they basically told me anything will do, the longer the better, just not the mbs atom line, google images seems to show windboarding as both that and kiting

If you don't get a timely response, Jeff Earl is the US distributor for Flexboardz. His contact info can be found here:

Okay, I just purchased a flexboardz Haize and it is GREAT! Now I need a kite. Does anyone know a good kite to buy that would work with enough power and lift for about 3mph-10mph? We have common light winds where I live, ocassionally gusts of 12-16mph. I am a young 6'3" guy and about 180lbs. Eventually wanting to move into the water also.
The guy I purchased the board from recommended an all terrain LEI. The element switch 2or3. I was wondering if there were other kites similar to that one that I may find cheaper/used?
Brands:
Slingshot, Naish, Cabrinha, North, etc.

If you are a strong paddler and know how to pop up on your sponge or at least drop knee it then I would tell you to go with a fish.As you progress you will start acquiring more and more boards and get a quiver going. A nice 6 foot fish will be something you can surf with all your life in small to medium sized mush that we get here in the summer.
