Kinda chalk and cheese.

A lot of web users seem to bitch and moan and get in flame wars saying PC's or Macs are better, but its what you use them for.

PC - gaming, word processing, web browsing, general family shit, computer on a budget.

Mac - Anything desighn, web building, photo editing, video editing etc.

It is kinda dumb how many people unnecessarily have Macs, especially the laptops. That said they are nicer computers to just use for day to day stuff.

Personally I use a mac, lovely to use for photo and video editing.

Mac FTW!!

My computer use when at home is related to music production and DJing or music listening and watching the occasional film, followed by a little internet browsing.
The mac is ideally suited to all these operations and excels at the first 2 that get the most use anyway!
I have never had any of my macs crash on me or come up with some stupid error message telling me it can't do something... in short they just work and do so very well!!

PC
I have a cheap compaq on windows7, and the only time it stops working is when a mac user uses it and clicks on overything 10 times and open everything.

PC's work perfectly for everything that most people do, with macs just being good at creative stuff. And having no virus' brcause no one can be bothered to make them as they take up such a small amount of the market.

You can't say macs are more powerfull either, because although thats true for most cases ( as that amount of speed isn't necesery for most people) i know people with PC's more powerfull than macs with better graphics and everything for around £500.

Macs cost far to much for what they are. Remeber apple is a software and hardware company, windows is only a software company.

i lolled, too true, but steam and a lot of game companys are changing that as so many people (especially students) have macs now.

They're great machines for running games on, just most games are not brought out on it. That said, a pimped out PC is probably equally good.

I've got a macbook pro and I definitely think it's overpriced for what you get. I've got both mac os and windows on it and I use the mac part just for browsing the web sometimes, but when I want to play games or get work done I have to use windows, there's just not that many programs for mac compared to windows. Most of the programs I use like solidworks and spice are windows only, although the I like the command line on mac os. I like the interface on mac and most versions of linux better than windows, but you need windows for most software.

yup cheap and cheerful, cheap software and most of the time they dont need much power.

But we use PCs at college and theyre shit, im on a film course and they crash endlessly, they take hours to do shit and break constantly.

Must be minimum spec for the software your using then. If a PC is maintained and has decent ram and processor they really should not crash.

they work most of the time, but they get used heavily every day, and they get clogged up with hard-drives full of footage as they arn't on the college network. That said, the same software sometimes crashes on my Mac, just kind of the nature of video work i guess.

fair enough that you prefer macs for media work, that's one thing that macs are better at.
