How to build a BERM-and PACK dirt!

Post by DirtStar Army » Tue Mar 29, 2011 10:21 pm

Pile lost of BIG ROCKS....@ the apex of the turn. Take time to line up the rocks with where the berm will be upon completion!!!! don't F*$# this up or the berm will have to be fixed and that will suck!!!!

Image

Pile the ROCKS fat and tall in the middle.....start to shape the berm with the rocks. Take note that all the sharp rocks are facing away from the trail!!!

Image

Fill in the gaps with small rocks.....fill in all the gaps!!!!! DRINK WATER!!!!......take note that the back of the berm is as wide or wider then the front. This will support the weigh of the dirt and help resist erosion. Take time to look at the trail.....make sure the new berm is in line be for moving on!..............DRINK WATER!!...........!DRINK WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See how the berm is taking shape with just rocks???? Look for any SHARP rocks sticking out!!!! move / tern them if needed.

Image

Take time to enjoy the view, converse with fellow DIGGERS and marvel at the wildlife around you!!!!! DRINK WATER!!!! Start to fill in the new trail with dirt. Pile the dirt 10"-12" deep...."PACK" the dirt by foot or tamp as you fill in the rocks. THE MORE DIRT THE BETTER!!!!

Image

Cut a trench into the "puddle" zone......This will help with rain run off!!!! Don't over look this!!!

Image

Pack the dirt by foot or hand tamp. Rake the dirt after packing.....then pack it aging....the more times you do this the harder the dirt will get and the "FLAT" the dirt will get.

Image

Now the long held DIRTSTAR secret is reviled...ooooo...aaaaa.... For the invincible - bullet proof dirt!!!! Pack that sh*! with your board over and over!!!!! Pack that sh*! tell it's go's dry.

Image

up down up down....over and over...tray and use the lines the tires make to help you pack the dirt ....over and over.....until the dirt go's dry!!!

Image

Marvel and OOOOOWWWW.....AAAAAAA.....F*%! yaaa that's HOT!

GOOD GOD lets ride!!!!!

Hand Tamp

Post by DirtStar Army » Fri Apr 22, 2011 1:13 am

I would DEF suggest the hand tamp.............Shovel-Rake-Hand tamp-By foot-Wheels..... all ways in that order.

my face book photos have some that are missing in this post.....if you would like some added info?

Ps bobsled is off the hook now and only getting better....if u ever come to Utah to ride we diff have two spots you must ride before you die....Moab and bobsled as true to mountainboarding as you can get!
