what really annoys me is that i got the pole just as my old camera broke. it had a really wide angle for a small camera and would have made for a better frame than this one. oh well.

I like the part when the car tire chases you down the hill. It does get a bit boring riding by myself sometimes, I'll have to try that.:)

Also liking the tyre bit!
Theres definitely possibilities there - after setting it off, you could scrub and then play around with the wheel on the way down. I wonder if it would be possible to "boardslide" it - you could certainly tail bonk it though - knock it over? speed it up?

Anyways, onto my typical tech critique...
When I downloaded the original file from vimeo, it was an mpeg. The codec was MPEG2. This is an old and outdated codec - it is what was used for DVDs, and is not a wise choice of codec these days. Use H.264, which is a version of MPEG4. The image will look better and the file will be smaller and thus quicker to upload to vimeo.

@leap - open invitation! honestly i would be overjoyed to have someone over to ride with....must admit though im struggling to find freeride locations which is what i really love, but down hill a plenty!

once i have enough places to feel a week of riding i will make a formal invite to all :P

Looks good, Ben, I like it. Also, the downhill section actually looks steep, whereas a lot of films and photos seem to loose any sense of gradient.
More of this sort of stuff please!

hmm, wonder why that is. max gradient according to google earth on that run is 30 which i reckon is average for a decent DH run, another run i do get to 46 :D

Downhill tracks round here are average 10-15 %, but they're probably a lot smoother.

I would avoid any of those presets ben, they will set the resolution and stuff (ie the iPhone one will set to iPhone res) which you don't want it to touch.
Use the "custom" option at the bottom.
What app is that?

app? its software, Ulead (coral) videostudio 11

under 'custom' once i choose MPEG-4 it gives these specs
MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 352 x 288, 15 fps
Frame-based
MPEG-4 SP Video: 500 Kbps
44100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 128 Kbps

isnt that a bit small?

im shooting NTSC (as you recommended) and 30fps, 1280X720

would it help if i upload a raw clip?

App = application. Doesn't just mean phone apps y'know.
Yeah, you want to keep the full res and framerate - 1280x720 @ 30 (29.97) FPS

Corel Video Studio 11 appears to be quite an old product - I cannot obtain a demo to help you that way.
Is this a paid license? Demo? Could you maybe try loading the project into the latest product - Corel Video Studio Pro X5 (Hopefully it should be able to load your project). There is a lot more support available for this product also, I can find dick all in google about vs11, but even vimeo has a guide for encoding to X5.
Failing that, I am happy to do a remote control session (ie operate your PC remotely), do you have me on facebook?

Yup, you sorted it now.
Interestingly, when I go to download the original file from vimeo, it says "Original .DAT file"
But when I download it, it saves as an .MP4
If it really did save to a .DAT container, I would probably try to change that to .MP4 or .AVI or something, but not the end of the world - you have an H.264 codec file now and I notice the video is considerably smaller in file size.
