@evilc
i used a preset option for uploading to vimeo which sets it just right for it...though it doesnt make a file for me (to my pc that is) but i made one anyway. and yeah saved a fair few Mb's, must admit though, visually, i see no difference...
@snowmonco
to be fair i would if it fitted in the back! its only a fiat panda. also im in israel - no rain - no mud, dust i can wipe off so its not to bad.

You're excused in that case, a Panda and something that deserve to be called a trunk are two antagonic things

And a roof rack? That would put things where they belong. Myself, I'm thinking of using my snowboard rack, essentially for short trips, to see if it will fit the mountainboard but I've been lazy.

perfectly right in fact about the roof rack, i even work in a metal shop and have everything at my disposal to make one...so i guess that makes me either lazy...or a bit dumb lol

It does, though it maybe isn't telling you where it is. It is not possible to "render to the internet".

Visually, you may not see much difference, but as I said, you have made the file smaller and kept the same quality. If you upped the "bitrate" or "quality" settings you would probably see an increase in quality, but the file size would go back up again.
Also, if you have appropriate hardware (ie an nVidia or ATI graphics card), the render speed for H.264 would probably be quite a bit quicker as the card would do the encode for you.
Do you see any difference in quality between the source clips and the final video? That is where you would see a big difference between MPEG2 and MPEG4 -with MPEG2 in order to achieve no noticeable loss in quality, the file would probably have to be quite a bit larger than an H.264 equivalent.
Also, seeing as your cameral probably shoots in H.264 (eg GoPro cameras do), it just makes more sense.

my camera (only a fuji t200) shoots AVI and i think i see a small difference...some quality lost but really not sure
