Alpine brakes are about the same effectiveness as a MBS V5 brake.. the only way you'll have a better brake is with a NoSno Hope Mini brake axle, or modify some hope mini's for an MBS channel truck (it's been done before).

i have to disagree with the comparison of V5's to ABS brakes. the hydraulics do make a difference in my opinion

This is what I was thinking of, but no, there's no official guide, but if you've got the time and a spare £100 odd, go on ebay and buy some hope minis, brake handle and discs!
From what I've seen on one or two modified MBS brakeboards they use a bracket to hold the hope minis in place, the discs are pretty universal.
