Newbie confessions, dirty dreams

Post by Beet » Sat Oct 10, 2015 7:22 pm

Hi,
I posted on here almost a year and half ago with ambitions, hopes, and pipe dreams. Now my brand new Comp95 still looks mostly brand new. I did not ride much at all. I feel like one of those people who buys nice gear to start out and then never really becomes part of it. Even though I was busy, there are no excuses I can give myself that don't sound very lame.

The Comp95 hangs in the garage getting fleeting glances from me now and then.

In the last year I've gotten in way better shape. I have more energy, and I am now craving the joy, adrenaline, exhaustion, and some dirt in my teeth, that this sport offers. Now I am reminded of my dirt board dream.
Maybe I have lost touch with my dirty dreams a little or maybe it just took me this long to be ready to make them priority. I shall see.

Blah blah blah, la di da di da, get your ass moving Beet.

I agree. It's been 2 years since I had a hard core session. I've cruised once or twice and been to the skate park a few times but not the kind of day where I'm tired sore ripped and cut and determined to to nail a trick. One of those days you don't want to end. Just one last run....... the run that forces your hand and reminds you when you need to quit.

I haven't rode in ages either. About a year ago i did a load of work on my board making it a nompa, rode it once and loved the feel. But i haven't rode it since, its hard to get motivated to go out and ride.

this is a horrifically common, specifically for those of us who ride alone. i havent riden in months. busy at work, moving house, finishing my degree etc etc...the excuses go on. i take comfort in knowing that nature and my board are both there...waiting for my imminent return. back in the UK autumn was my favorite season to ride, really hope i take hold of myself soon again and go out!
I strive to ride as much as a go on http://www.surfingdirt.com/forum

Actually thats a lie. I wouldn't know how to knit anything. I ride everyweek and we've managed to unite 9 'lost' boarders to regularly ride. In fact its the most active our local scene has been for over 10 years. We also ride on Sundays with our kids and invite newbs and kids to try boarding. Were probably the largest active freeride boarding team in the UK.

Bah..... what this world really needs is a board with a gun rack. ;)

Failing that, it time to drool over some merchandise on the Eberlestock website.
